The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is a group of local youth aged 14 to 19-years-old helping High River be a vibrant, well planned community. It is run by youth and their programs and events are aimed at youth.

The MYAC wants to bring about change and provide a voice for youth in High River.

On Oct. 26, the youth group organized a special Halloween themed afternoon at the Culture Centre, where youth could come in and enjoy various Halloween activities and were also able to enjoy some treats.

The MYAC members planned and promoted the whole event and even went out shopping for the various items needed.

Youth Liaison Worker, Amanda King is extremely proud of all MYAC members.

“They are a great group. They are here trying to make a difference in our community. They are smiling and happy to be doing this,” she said.

The MYAC are learning the skills to be leaders of the future.

They not only hosted this fall event, they host the Skate Mania event at the Skate Park in the summer and are now organizing their next event “The MYAC Skating party”.
