The Mustangs were in a close game against Cardston for the bronze medal, but lost 2-1.

Eagle Butte went on to win the tournament with a win against Raymond in the finals.

Season started about two weeks ago. The Mustangs lost the first game to STS.

“We had a really good game and effort, but we didn’t come out on the winning side,” said Mustangs coach Michelle Alberts.

“I was also happy with how we played at our tournament even though we didn’t get a medal.”

The Mustangs have only three returning players from last year, so it is a fairly young team, so there is a lot to learn.

“They are all learning how to play together and we are just working out the kinks and getting ready to move forward,” said Alberts.

The team hasn’t set a goal yet for this season, as coach Alberts like to wait until October to see where her team is at.

“But we always want to throw out a good solid competition in league and try to finish in top the top four,” she said.

“We have a very tough zone, but we want to see some of these teams before we make any goals.”

Highwood will play a tournament in Oilfields Sept. 28 and 29 and their next home game will be on Oct. 15 against HCC at 6 p.m.
