It’s that time of the year again. A time where we will hear Christmas carols for the next month or so, the season where we will be drinking eggnog and making gingerbread man houses, a time where we will pick out and/or set up our Christmas trees.
For the next month, this is a time we will enjoy looking at the beautiful Christmas lights set up across the town with our loved ones. Many will also take part in the Secret Santa gift exchange with their coworkers, friends and families. Some will dress up as Santa or in their Christmas sweaters and some will bake Christmas themed goods.
Most importantly for the next month or so, you will be able to enjoy all the above things with the people who are closest to you.
Christmas is only three and a half weeks away and there is a lot of going in High River to get you into the Christmas spirit.
The High River Santa skate is on Dec. 2 at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex from 5-8 p.m. and new this year, the Field House will have Christmas themed activities for those who don’t skate. This is a family event. Everyone is asked to wear a helmet if on the ice, and strollers are not permitted. Jumpstart donations will be accepted for pictures with Santa. Make sure to bring your own camera or smart phone. Food Bank donations will also be accepted at the event.

This is a wonderful time of year that I’m sure everyone is excited for, as am I. The Town of High River and businesses and groups and even individuals all did a great job last year bringing the spirit of Christmas to High River and I’m sure it will be the same again.
Dress warm for the parade night, enjoy the time with your friends and family and be safe.
