High winds collapsed a multi-purpose indoor soccer field being built south of Calgary.
Just after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, officials learned that the structure of the Foothills-Okotoks Regional Field House collapsed.
No one was injured.
The steel frame of the building which was in the initial stages of construction, was hit by high winds, said officials.
Scott Builders Inc. is the company building the facility that began construction last fall.
Scott Rutherford, president of Scott Builders Inc., said they are in the process of determining why and how it fell and what remediation and engineering fixes will be required.
"This investigation may take up to a month, however Scott Builders is acting quickly to resolve this situation," he said.
The multi-purpose facility is a joint project between the Municipal District of Foothills and the Town of Okotoks that was anticipated to take about 15 months to complete.
The facility will include four playing fields, a training area with locker rooms and team rooms, administrative offices, meeting and multipurpose rooms, and a walking/running track.
